Hillary Clinton’s stance is that public college should be free, but with a few stipulations. She believes that students should work ten hours a week while attending school. Hillary held a job throughout her college life and feels that students would benefit by doing the same. Wealthy students would not be eligible for the free public education in her plan.
Bernie Sanders proposed a plan for free public education without any strings attached. Well except for students footing the bill for room and board. These costs could run a student upwards of $9,804. The rest would lay solely on the government to pay.
Being a student who is struggling to pay for public college myself, I find both of these proposals very appealing. Believing that my college costs would be covered by financial aid, I decided to go ahead and return to school. After all of my applications had been submitted, I found out that I am in fact not eligible for any grants. Now I am faced with the dilemma of finding a way to cover my college costs. Taking out a loan will drive me further into dept. This will cause more of a delay in reaching my future goals.
In today’s world a college education is a must in order to survive financially. These plans would be beneficial to many students struggling to pay for college. Not having any school loans holding them back would start people off in a much better situation. Many students would profit from both of these candidates plans.
